MATERNITY SHOOT WITH JEN & REG

Jen wanted to capture a few photos with her boy Reggie before the arrival of his little brother, so I grabbed my XT5 and we headed to a nice park near us.

I went out to scout a good spot, and this seemed to be ideal with blossoming tree as a backdrop / frame. The midday sun gave a bit of a challenge with the harsh light, but we got some nice keepers.

Some reflections from me:

• Even though it’s a space that I walk through at least once a week, scouting out and really paying attention to what would make a good background paid off

• I used the trick of holding your hand out in front of you to help find a nice spot where the light wasn’t too harsh

• I’m way more comfortable taking candid shots than I am posed, so getting Reg to run up to Jen helped me get shots with more feeling and energy in them

Oh an always remember to tell people to remove the sunnies! Luckily I caught this just after getting start 😎
